With Plank Top, Frieze drawer and Crenelated Frieze
Fruitwood and Oak with Exceptional Honey Colour and Burnished Surface
English, c.1680

22.25" high x 25.5" wide x 16.75" deep

Provenance: English Private Collection, London.

In our experience this is a genuine "one-off" example, with the single drop leaf to the back. The generous moulded top has a good overhang and is peg jointed to the frame. The single frieze drawer retains the original hardware and is raised on turned legs with decorative turned details above slender balusters, which are joined by turned stretchers. The hinges to the drop flap are original and there is no evidence of any significant damage or restoration to this piece, which even retains the original turned feet. Scars and bruises, incidental staining and shrinkage, all commensurate with age and function. A delightful discovery and rare survival in excellent condition.
