This handsome original dresser is of classic Welsh design, and incorporates rare features of an arcaded frieze and drop finials with generous "bellied" sides  to the rack; spoon holders along the shelf front and moulded details to the internal drawer fronts. It is a particularly fine example with original wide back boards above an enclosed cupboard base with three block moulded drawer above a narrow vertical fielded panel flanked by twin ogee moulded fielded panel cupboards, there is some visible natural shrinkage between the backboards and the knob handles are historic estate replacements, whilst the escutcheons are original , but overall it is a piece of great integrity, with original drawer linings and a wonderful original colour and surface. There are historic repairs to the corners of the left-hand cupboard and to the bottom corner of the right-side cupboard where the integral pin hinges are housed and inevitable scars and bruises throughout, consistent with its age and function. The surface had developed a good nutty colour with the golden red hues of the best Welsh early Georgian oak furniture and is richly burnished. A piece to please a discerning interior designer and a vernacular furniture connoisseur.
