Weathered and Verdigris Patinated Sheet Copper and Wire
English, c.1940
29.5" high x 19.75" wide x 7.25" deep (incl. stand)
Ref: 11689
A good example of a working weathervane with evidence of natural weathering and age-related patination to the verdigris surface. The single masted vessel has a pennant flag to the mast, above a mainsail and jib, which are integral to the design and help the vane to function and point into the wind. The slender streamlined swell-bodied hull incorporates a stylised cabin and full keel and there is a rectangular flag flying off the stern. There is staining and weathering to the surface throughout and the pennant flag to the mast is a little wonky, but this elegant example is in genuine original, as found, condition and is presented on a bespoke made mount, for exhibition purposes.
