With Cleated Plank Top on Joined Base Raised on Square Legs Solid Oak with Faded and Wonderfully Patinated Surface English, West Country, c.1770
30" high x 86.75" wide x 33.5" deep
In authentic original condition, the remarkable oak plank top has an exceptional faded surface and lovely "silver" patination. The top was originally a "turnover" top, on which one side was used for food preparation and when tuned over the "smart" side was used for dining. There is a shaped detail to the frieze on one side, suggesting the table was commissioned to stand against a wall, as the opposite side is plain and has no shaped bracket detail. The underside of the top has been fitted with locating blocks to keep the top in position, and there are incidental scratches, bruises, and staining thoughout, but otherwise, this example is in genuine untouched original condition.
