Inscribed:
"Customers Came and i Did Trust Them
So i Lost My Liquor and Their Custom
To Lose Them Both it Grieves Me Sore
So i am Resolved to Trust no More
Chalk is Useful say What you Will
Chalk Never Pay the Brewers Bill.
So i Will Strive to Mend & Keep a Decent Tap
For Ready Money But no Strap.
All you that Bring Tobacco here
Must Pay For Pipes as Well as Beer."
