Provenance: The Third Earl of Powis and thence by descent. This documentary work by Richard Whitford is a prime example of British Naive Livestock Painting of the mid 19th Century. This is one of a collection of eight works commisioned from Whitford by the third Earl, for Powis Castle. The other seven from the group are now the property of the National Trust.
