Quintessentially naive in the most static style, this group of three family portraits depict the sitters in their home in rigid stylised poses. The shadows are heavy and colours bold. Genuine naive art of this quality is now hard to find. The picture of the young man is inscribed to verso giving evidence of provenance and region and the figures are posed in such a way that they are attempting to accentuate their status in mid C19th society. All housed in their original moulded mahogany frames this group is now museum mounted and backed on acid free paper and are in excellent condition.
