A boldly executed English Naive School oils on canvas portrait of a young boy in good overall condition, housed within a period rosewood veneered frame. The canvas has been professionally cleaned of discoloured varnishes and surface dirt. The portraiture has the primitive static graphic quality typical of the genre and there is a delightful naive depiction of the eyes, hand, shirt collar and watch. This is an exceptional anonymous painting from the British Naive and Folk Art tradition which has a timeless unpretentious charm.
