A Rare Collection of Eighteen Milliner's Head Form Lasts

Solid Hand Carved Wood and Various Media
Largest 9” high, Smallest 4.5” high

French c. 1830 - c. 1880

Provenance: This exciting and evocative collection was discovered in an ancient French Milliner's Workshop. The heads are all in genuine untouched original working condition, which lends them terrific sculptural and textural interest. The collection includes head 'lasts' for adults, children and unusually the smaller pieces were used to make wigs and bonnets for early wooden and porcelain headed dolls. This is probably a unique collection.
