Condition: Boxes of this type were individually decorated to commission in Central Europe from c1600-1850 and were traditionally offered as dowry gifts or love tokens. Colourfully decorated and fashioned from very fine bentwood in regional styles, they form a significant part of the European Folk Art Tradition.
