This remarkable weathervane was designed by A. W. N. Pugin to surmount the Dovecote he also designed in the grounds of Alton Towers, Staffordshire, 1837-40. It was taken with kind permission from the grounds of the Dovecote, from which it had fallen following a storm in the early 1970's and Historic England, confirm in their listing number 1000191, that the weathervane is by Pugin.
