Untouched with Well Weathered Natural Verdigris Surface
English, Warwickshire, c.1850

England c. 1850

36” high x 18” wide x 10.25” deep

Condition: Exactly how you would hope to find it, this heavy gauge sheet copper silhouette cockerel form weathervane has an untouched crusty weathered surface enhanced by wonderful natural verdigris patination. With great details to the comb, breast, high arched tail and tail feathers, this is a particularly fine example from the British Folk Art Tradition. Now raised on a contemporary stand, it comes from a respected British Private Collection in the midlands, and is known to have been removed from a rural house that was built in 1835.
