George Smart is one of the great British Folk artists of the nineteenth century. A tailor by trade, he fashioned engaging naïve images like the present example from scraps of fabric he had in his workshop. Smart’s work is represented in many major public and private collections, including Compton Verney, and the Tunbridge Wells Museum.
