Three Tier “Waterfall” Dairy Stand

Constructed in solid Carrara Marble

England c. 1870

29.25” high x 21.75” wide x 15.75” deep

Condition: A great, practical and architecturally stylish domestic dairy or kitchen stand. Fashioned from solid veined white Carrarra **(sp?) marble, this is a rare and functional three tier shelf for the storage and display of perishable foodstuffs. Found in both C19th dairy shops where they were used to display butter, cheeses and cream, whilst the marble shelves kept them cool they were also used in large country house kitchens and larders for the same purpose. Now this would make a sensational feature in a contemporary kitchen or dining room and is a rare survival in excellent original condition.
