With Large Copper Rose Head
Zinc with Interesting Historic Paint Surface
Northern European c. 1900
16.5” high x 23” wide x 8” deep
In amazing untouched original condition, this vintage working gardener’s Watering Can is a master class in original historic paint surface. Cupped cracked and crusty, elements of several layers of paintwork now create a kind of pointillist abstract work on the oval body. Painted in oil bound paints onto a moulded zinc body and surmounted by a bold but graceful loop handle and with a huge rose head, this is more a piece of patinated sculpture than an historic working vessel. Simply special.
