Working Shorebird Decoy

Of Minimal Reductive Form
Hand Carved and Painted Cork

Probably French c. 1900

6.5” high x 13” wide x 4.5” deep

Carved from solid cork and retaining its historic painted decoration this example was made as a working decoy. Of delightful stylised form and in sound original working condition. Originally humble, these sculptural birds have an appealing form and each hand carved example has its own individual character and unique form.
