Rare Early Wood Pigeon Decoy

Rare Early Wood Pigeon Decoy
With Unusually Pronounced Red Breast
Hand Carved and Painted Wood with Glass Eyes
English c. 1880

13” high x 12” wide x 3 ¼” deep

Ref: 6483

A particularly fine and individual hand carved and painted working decoy. This example has a bright “pigeon red” colouring to its puffed out chest and delightful primitive neck markings. It retains the original glass eyes and has a wonderfully elegant primitive form. It is in original condition throughout, retaining the original beak/bill and great untouched painted surface, a really fine and unique example.
