Unusual Folk Art Bi-Plane Weathevane

Hand Carved and Painted Wood with Metal Details

English c. 1935

6” high x 20” wide x 16” deep

Ref: 34/38

Hand made from carved wood and metal and retaining its original painted decoration, this bi-plane form weathervane is an engaging work of 20th Century folk art sculpture of delightful small scale. The fuselage retains the original mounting socket on which the plane can revolve in the wind and the shaped metal propeller also rotates. Charmingly well modelled and decorated, this is an eccentric and most unusual piece, probably originally made for a garden folly or small outhouse workshop.
