Scandinavian, Dated 1801
A very good example from the Scandinavian Folk art Tradition, this delightful hand carved Love Token Watch stand is decorated with stylised chip carving incorporating the date 1801, stylised horse heads, a crescent moon finial and heart motifs. It retains much of the original ”rosemaling” or painted decoration and is in excellent overall condition. There is evidence of wear and some incidental paint loss, all commensurate with age and function.
