The Way We See It

The Robert Young Vintage Collection largely comprises pieces related to a stylish way of life, when things moved a little slower and people found more time for recreation, conversation and outdoor pursuits. It is an initiative that was inspired by our annual visits to the A-Bar-A Ranch in Wyoming and when chatting to regular fellow guests who commonly have an enthusiasm for nature and wildlife, fly fishing, horseback riding, shooting, various other field sports and outdoor life in general. Many also share interests in literature, art, craftsmanship, history, fine food and wine and are naturally attracted to old "gear and tackle" and historic lifestyle accessories associated with active days and evenings around a log fire.

It is our aim to source genuine individual pieces that reflect these interests, many of which can still serve their original purpose, yet now also benefit from the dignity and character of age. They can form the basis of eclectic collections or enhance the atmosphere and style of a study, country home, cabin or fishing lodge, many would also make unique and exciting presents. These pieces come from a time when craftsmen generally selected their materials carefully, worked with skill and care and took pride in making things to work and last. The paintings are generally narrative, telling the tale of days on the river or the hill, or sometimes made or commissioned as trophies and reminders of special moments and little triumphs. Each piece has been individually selected by us and vetted for authenticity and quality, in the same rigorous manner that everything we handle is subjected to.

We hope our clients and visitors to the A Bar A Ranch will take pleasure from the variety, style and quality of pieces in this little collection of historic functional, decorative and tactile treasures, which we will add to as regularly as we can source fresh material.
