We have recently acquired this remarkable lifetime collection of functional domestic Mocha Ware pottery created by Derek and Sally Green. Derek’s great grandfather Thomas Goodwin Green founded the renowned traditional Derbyshire potters T G Green & Co. The designers and makers of the original striped “Cornish Ware”. Derek began his working life with the family firm, before going on to become a respected specialist and connoisseur of early English and Continental furniture.

This, their personal collection of Mocha Ware was built up piece by piece over a period of thirty years. Each example being selected for its rarity, form or decoration in “as found” condition. The collection of 50 pieces includes some unusual pieces made by T G Green & Co which were of particular interest to Derek and Sally.

It is a remarkable and stunning study collection of examples dating from c.1800 – 1930 and is a fine archive of this idiosyncratic, classically formed and appealingly decorated British pottery.

We will be offering this as a single collection in the hope that it will find a new home and remain intact.
