Stayned Cloth: The Traditional Art of Painted Canvas Wall Hangings

Rivière, Robert and Josyane’s long established design partnership, working in collaboration with dkt, leading muralists and specialist decorators, have put a fresh interpretation on the traditional art of paint decorated canvas for wall decoration.

Offering an engaging repertoire of styles, images and motifs, inspired by the traditional artistic vocabulary of diverse cultures, they have developed a flexible and inventive system that allows for any room or interior space to be custom decorated.

The individually hand painted canvases may be joined with appealingly graphic traditional hand stitching or seamed and machined or pasted in the manner of other quality wall coverings, ‘upholstered’ directly onto wall battens, pinned, or simply hung loose.

These ‘Stayned Cloths’ with roots in ancient traditions, translate gracefully into the vernacular of contemporary living.
