Of small proportions and block constructed so that the chopping surface comprises only of end grain, for function and durability. This sculptural vernacular chopping block was made for a working country house kitchen and is in genuine original condition. The solid timber blocks were fixed together and bound with a single metal band and set upon three turned legs. The top surface has been cleaned and washed so oten that it has developed a lovely “driftwood” surface, whilst the legs and body have acquired a lovely soft honey colour and worn patina. Still perfectly functional and of great small size, such pieces also make statement lamp or side tables in eclectic interior spaces.
